The project scope of work includes the design for the replacement of central mechanical systems within Phillips Hall on Central Campus. The heavily utilized building contains classroom, laboratory and office space for the departments of Physics & Astronomy, Mathematics, and Biomedical Engineering within the College of Arts & Sciences. Associated work may include new finishes as well as ceiling and lighting systems replacement in affected areas. Hazardous material testing and abatement design will be required due to anticipated presence in pipe insulation and finish materials. Careful attention to project phasing and implementation will be required to limit disruptions to building occupants.
Specifically, the project will replace eight original multi-zone and constant velocity AHUs in the 1958 building, including ductwork. It is anticipated that the new systems will be DDC controlled VAV AHUs with new ductwork and hot water reheat terminal boxes. The design shall consider the ground floor mechanical room as the location for new AHU placement and existing stacked mechanical closets may be utilized for ductwork supply and return shafts. A former data center on the ground floor will be conditioned as part of the project.
Design Services shall include Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Abatement Design. The design team will be responsible for Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documentation, including Life-cycle Cost Analysis at each design phase; Phasing Plans (as may be necessary); and Construction Administration services.
The project delivery method shall be Single Prime Bid and Contract.
