Energy Conservation Measures Project Update

The implementation of the energy conservation measures (ECM) continues to raise the bar on campus energy savings. The program has achieved savings of $36,143,515 since August, 2009. We want to thank everyone for their hard work and support. Your commitment to operate our buildings differently, to turn off lights and electronics and accommodate new room temperatures enable the university to exceed our boldest projections of nearly $5 million in energy savings a year. These savings account for over half of the total savings of the 17 state universities.  UNC met the mandated 30% reduction for fiscal year 2012 with 31% and fiscal year 2013 we increased savings to 33%.  We need your continued support and focus to keep achieving the mandated reduction and carbon neutrality commitment.
