When students return to campus for the fall semester, they’ll see some big improvements at one of Carolina’s busiest recreation spaces.

The Michael Hooker Fields, home of Carolina’s intramural and club sports as well as many other University activities, are receiving a major renovation this summer. The project includes installing new field turf — complete with padding underneath to make the playing surface safer — and LED lighting, which will reduce the number of light posts needed and open up more space for recreation.

The installation of WiFi is also part of the renovation, which is scheduled for completion in mid-September.
