The tower crane that has been on-site at the Mary Ellen Jones renovation project will be demobilized and removed over the weekend of Aug. 18.
The service entrance between the Mary Ellen Jones and Thurston Bowles buildings will be closed beginning the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 18, through Saturday, Aug. 19, to remove the boom extension from the crane. No deliveries or vehicles will be permitted into the area during this period.
West Drive between Mason Farm Road and Manning Drive will be restricted to one lane during the day Friday, Aug. 18. At 7 p.m. this segment of West Drive and adjacent sidewalks will be closed completely until end of day Sunday, Aug. 20.
While West Drive is closed, the Cardinal parking deck will be accessible from Mason Farm Road. Vehicles will enter the deck at the southern end of West Drive, going the wrong way on what is normally a one-way street. A portion of the top level of the deck will be closed for safety reasons.
Barricades and signage will be in place to direct vehicles and pedestrians during this project.
