Snow Removal Priority Maps

Grounds, Housekeeping, and Building Services crews are on campus working to clear entrances, walkways and parking lots per the Facilities Services Snow Removal Map. Due to extremely low temperatures, Energy Management Control Systems staff are also monitoring building and environmental systems to ensure that they stay online.

Snow Removal and Service Updates

Friday, Jan. 5

The University will resume normal operations at 10 a.m. Facilities crews will continue to work across campus to clear additional entrances, walkways and parking lots and to address areas that are refreezing.

Thursday, Jan. 4

The University is currently operating under Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) of its adverse weather plan. Please visit alertcarolina.unc.edu for updates and more information.

The Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling (OWRR) has suspended waste collection services for Thursday, Jan. 4. When services can safely resume, collections from animal facilities and applicable medical, housing and dining facilities, will be made a priority.

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: The University is now operating under Condition 1 and will resume normal operations at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: 92% of priority entrances have been cleared on main campus. Due to low temperatues some areas are refreezing, so caution should be used on sidewalks and stairs. Evening shifts will reapply ice melt at entrances and connecting sidewalks.

UPDATE 12:00 p.m.: 67% of priority/ADA building entrances on campus have been cleared, and additional entrances are being pretreated. All primary entrances to residence halls have now been cleared.

UPDATE 10:00 a.m.: Most priority parking lots have been plowed and cleared, including lots at the following locations: UNC Hospitals, Ambulatory Care Center, Aycock Family Medicine, Glaxo Molecular Biology Research Lab, the Dean Smith Lot, S11 Lot, and Ehringhaus.  Due to extremely cold conditions, clearing of campus entrances and walkways is moving slowly.
