Forest Management is expecting flooding, downed trees, and super-saturated conditions across the Forest in the coming week.

The single track trails will be posted “closed” indefinitely due to potentially hazardous conditions across the property to protect visitors and save the trails for drier days. After the storm passes, visit at your own risk and know that UNC resources won’t be immediately available to help in unexpected circumstances.

Contact us here or at forestmanager@fac.unc.edu to report any dangerous situations, blocked access roads, or other areas of concern. We’ll respond and address the issue as soon as we can, after main campus is secured and conditions are safe for Forest operations. Pictures and/or specific locations will help us resolve issues quickly and efficiently. We respectfully request that neighbors and visitors not take matters into their own hands and saw, prune, remove trees or repair features along the trail; immediate satisfaction often creates unperceived, unconsidered impacts on the Forest and can affect trail access in the future. Please give us the opportunity to document conditions and assume the risk of clearing and restoring the trails.

Thank you for your consideration, cooperation and understanding!
