West Drive Repaving and Street Conversion Project Begins Sept. 16

West Drive will close to traffic Saturday, Feb. 29 through Sunday, March 1 for concrete repair operations. During this closure, PD permit holders may park in the Dogwood Deck. One-way through traffic on West Drive from Manning Drive will resume on Monday, March 2 and PD permit holders will resume parking in the Cardinal Deck.

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 18, the stairs at the southwest corner of the Cardinal Parking Deck will close to pedestrian access. Pedestrians should resume using the other stair tower or other alternate pedestrian routes.

West Drive between Manning Drive and Mason Farm Road will close to through traffic beginning Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, through Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, for a repaving and improvements project. The project will include road repaving and sidewalk repairs, and this portion of West Drive will also be restriped and resignaled and converted to a two-way street.

West Drive Phase One (Sept. 16 – Nov. 10) Work Zone and Detour Routes

The Cardinal Parking Deck will remain accessible to PD permit holders throughout the project, and barricades and signage will be in place to direct vehicles and pedestrians.

Beginning Sept. 16, the Cardinal Parking Deck will be accessible from Mason Farm Road. Vehicles will enter the deck at the southern end of West Drive, going the wrong way on what is currently a one-way street.

Beginning Nov. 11, the Cardinal Parking Deck will be accessible from Manning Drive. The crosswalk and sidewalks outside Marsico Hall at the West Drive and Mason Farm Road intersection will also be closed and pedestrians should use the southern side of Mason Farm Road.

Once West Drive reopens in March 2020 it will be converted to a two-way street, and drivers and pedestrians should remain alert to the changes in traffic patterns in this area.
