Construction of the Curtis Media Center will begin Dec. 30 and is expected to be completed January 2021. The 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art media center will house flexible learning spaces, production studios and technical support spaces, and will serve students and faculty from across campus as well as those in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
The media center will be built on the current site of the Phillips Annex building. Phillips Annex, built in 1925, is in poor condition and demolition was approved by the University Board of Trustees in November 2018.
The project will require the closure of a portion of the Hanes Parking Lot and walkways between Phillips, Memorial and Carroll halls. Pedestrians should follow designated reroutes and remain alert to construction activity in the area and vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
