Campus may often appear quiet in the summer, but Facilities Services teams have been hard at work over the break. With students and faculty away, crews took the the opportunity to address essential cleaning, maintenance and repairs of building exteriors across campus to make sure campus is looking its best for the fall semester.

Entrances and exterior surfaces at Hanes Hall, Carroll Hall and other buildings have been power washed, removing dirt, grime and other buildup. Handrails have been sanded and repainted, improving their appearance but also protecting against future rust. The steps at Bynum Hall have also been washed and cracks repaired.

Students stopping to take a study break outside South Building and the Campus Y will notice the wood benches have been repaired and refinished, restoring their look. Other improvements around campus include roof patching, window repairs and masonry work.

As a final touch, the sign at the corner of South and Country Club roads has been repainted, ensuring a warm and inviting welcome to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
