Michael Ambrose, architect and capital project manager in Facilities Planning and Design, has been elected to serve on the Southern Regional Council of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP).
SCUP is a nationally recognized association that brings together institutional and professional leaders who are committed to advancing excellence in higher education planning. The SCUP Southern Regional Council plays a crucial role in developing regional initiatives, fostering membership connections, and supporting educational programs and events across its network. The Southern Regional Council represents members from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Mexico, and Central and South America.
“I am thrilled to contribute to the SCUP Southern Regional Council and collaborate with such a dynamic community of professionals dedicated to advancing higher education planning,” said Ambrose. “This is an incredible opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and help shape innovative, inclusive strategies that will make a lasting impact on our member institutions and the students we serve. I’m excited about the opportunity to represent the University in this new role.”
In his capacity at Facilities Services, Ambrose manages a diverse portfolio of academic, research and infrastructure projects for the University. He earned his Master of Architecture from Syracuse University and his Bachelor of Architecture from Temple University.
Ambrose is also a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Triangle Board of Directors and serves on the AIA Triangle K-12 Educational Outreach Taskforce. He has extensive experience as an professor of architecture and is currently an associate professor of practice in the School of Architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
