Project Description
During a recent project to replace vacuum pumps at the School of Dentistry, it was discovered that there is widespread clogging and corrosion of vacuum piping in three buildings at the School of Dentistry - Brauer, Tarrson, and First Dental. The vacuum system in these buildings serves 330 operatories. The blockages within the piping contain mercury from dental amalgam and shall be handled as hazardous material. This project scope of work includes design to replace the dental vacuum piping including the abatement of hazardous materials, as well as design for bulk amalgam separators in Brauer, Tarrson and Koury. The Koury vacuum system serves 85 simulation benches.
Design Services shall include: Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and HazMat Abatement. The design team shall prepare SD, DD, and CD level Contract Documentation to include Life-cycle Cost Analysis, Phasing Plans and Project Budget Cost Analysis.
The design team may be led by an Architectural or an Engineering firm. Given the complexities of design and construction for renovation projects and the expectation of maintaining an operational environment for the Users, the University requests that as part of the submittal the design team indicate their Proposed Approach to both Field Verification and Project Phasing.
This solicitation extends the opening date of the previous solicitation for this project.
