Currently the preferred site for the Medical Education Building is the Berryhill Hall site. Berryhill Hall currently houses a vivarium that will be migrated to other facilities, since Berryhill Hall will eventually be demolished. A preliminary planning effort determined that a series of renovations in McGavran Greenberg, Taylor Hall, MBRB, and Marsico are required to accommodate the Berryhill vivarium. This project is the partial renovation of the first floor of the Student Health Center in the Taylor Hall Building, specifically in the Sports Medicine department and public areas. The project will renovate approximately 12,000 SF of exam rooms, cast rooms, nurses stations, waiting areas, break room, support spaces and check-in/check-out areas. As part of this renovation, a portion of the loading dock will be enclosed to add more support space for the floor. The project will also add a hard canopy to the front of the facility. Project budget: $1,900,000.

The objectives of this feasibility study are to evaluate and plan for a new research building at the North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCBG). Founded in 1905, the Herbarium houses about 800,000 plant specimens. The proposed programming is to house the Herbarium’s personnel, research, and teaching activities, large museum collection; providing research, office, and seed processing and space for the NCBG Southeast Regional Seed Bank, public use of a substantial library of botany-related books and other materials; and providing classrooms and other public access areas for programming and teaching related to plant systematics and plant conservation. The building should be sited and designed to be visually compatible with the James and Delight Allen Education Center and to have similar LEED building sustainability features. Project budget: $250,000.

There will be a pre-proposal/walk-through meeting on September 27, 2016 at 9:30 AM located at North Carolina Botanical Garden located at 100 Old Mason Farm Rd., Chapel Hill, NC, 27517. The debriefing will occur in the Meeting Room.

The project includes new HVAC systems and window replacement for three of UNC’s Lower Quad residence hall buildings (Everett – 19,436 SF, Lewis – 19,502 SF, and Stacy – 20,110 SF). The scope of this single prime project includes replacing and upgrading the existing HVAC systems and direct digital controls. An upgrade to the existing fire alarm system in these buildings to make them addressable is included. Existing windows will be replaced with new energy efficient windows that meet the requirements of the University of North Carolina Design Guidelines. Project budget: $4,500,000.

The renovation of the Community Center building at Odum Village is necessary for the development of a new Student Veteran’s Center on the UNC-CH campus. This project will renovate approximately 1,100 SF of the existing 1st floor Laundry Room for the Student Affairs Multi-Purpose Room which will be displaced by the Student Veteran’s Center. A new elevator lift will need to be installed along with bathroom renovations to make the second floor ADA accessible. This project will require replacement of the existing HVAC systems and will include selective demolition which will require abatement for lead and asbestos.
